3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

• Instructor Accounts: Can create courses and assignments, view student submissions and analytics, and provide grades
• Administrator Accounts: Have access to institutional-level features and settings

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

4.2 Academic Integrity

While Paper AI provides AI assistance tools, you are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with your institution's academic integrity policies. The Service is designed to provide transparency about AI usage, but it is your responsibility to:

• Understand and comply with your institution's policies on AI use in academic work
• Use AI assistance appropriately and in accordance with assignment guidelines
• Properly cite and attribute AI-generated content when required
• Not submit work that violates plagiarism or academic dishonesty policies

5. User Content

5.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you submit, post, or display on or through the Service ("User Content"), including assignments, submissions, and reflections. By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

5.2 Responsibility for Content

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that:

• You own or have the necessary rights to all User Content you submit

• AI responses are generated by third-party services and may contain errors or inaccuracies
• We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or quality of AI-generated responses
• Your use of AI features is subject to the terms and policies of the respective AI providers
• AI interactions are logged and may be visible to instructors and authorized personnel
• You should verify and fact-check any AI-generated content before using it in your work

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Paper AI and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices from the Service
• Use our trademarks, logos, or brand names without our prior written consent

8. Privacy

• Defects will be corrected
• The Service is free of viruses or other harmful components
• The results obtained from using the Service will be accurate or reliable

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PAPER AI, ITS AFFILIATES, OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

• Your use or inability to use the Service
• Any errors or omissions in the Service
• Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers or your account
• Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service
• Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code transmitted through the Service

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Paper AI and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or relating to:

• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
• Your User Content

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
• We may delete your account and associated data, subject to legal and institutional retention requirements
• All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using account deletion features in the Service.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except where prohibited by law.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Paper AI regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
